SUMMARY

 

The Operations Manager directs and oversees yard activities to ensure the efficient and economical utilization of facilities for storing and distributing material and finished goods inventories to all customer locations throughout the Columbus region.

 

  • Oversee the planning and scheduling function to ensure the prompt and accurate delivery of product to each customer location.
  • Establish standards and operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing and shipping of products and materials to customer locations.
  • Ensure the efficient and safe operation of the yard, the proper resources utilization, and coordination with the other yards to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting customer demands.
  • Develop a high functioning team at each location through staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance discussions; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Work closely with Sales and Purchasing to ensure we are properly serving our customers while keeping inventory at appropriate levels and turning it in a manner to prevent inventory from becoming unsalable.
  • Travel throughout the Columbus region required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three to five years working in the building materials industry.
  • Capable of leading and motivating a team.
  • An Associate’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills; detailed and accurate.
  • Leadership, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities, challenges and additional duties as required
